Bender, 67, of Somerset RD 3, died March 7, 1993, at Somerset Hospital. Born Dec. 22, 1925, in Denver, Lancaster County, Pa., son of Rebecca Gladys (Stoltzfus) Bender of Fairlawn, Ohio, and the late Ray F. Bender. Also preceded in death by a brother, James B. Bender. Survived by his wife, the former Ann Lohr, and these sons: Jeffrey L. Bender of Manchester, Mo.; Dr. Edward N. Bender, married to the former Joanne Tummino of Johnstown; also two grandchildren, Adam and Nicole Bender. He was a brother of Mrs. William (Joanne) Regenhardt of La Jolla, Calif.; Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Koosed of Akron, Ohio, and Donald W. Bender of San Diego, Calif. Retired Somerset apartment manager and contractor. Veteran of U.S. Army, World War II. He had attended Muhlenberg College of Allentown, Pa. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and American Legion Post 181. He was an avid reader of history and national and international affairs. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Glenn E. Sadler and the Rev. Dr. William T. Doncaster Jr. officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
