  BENDER
  
  Mrs. Sarah Alverta Bender, 78, died Sept. 3, 1980, at the Allegheny
  Lutheran Home, Johnstown.  Born June 29, 1902, in Hyndman, daughter of the
  late Charles and Lydia (Martz) Dunlap.  Preceded in death by husband,
  Edward E. Bender, in 1957; three brothers and one sister.  Survived by the
  following children:  Mrs. Joseph (Virginia) Nicoli of Beckley, W.Va.; and
  Mrs. Telford (Peggy) Whipperman, Somerset; eight grandchildren and eight
  great-grandchildren.  Sister of:  James Dunlap, Anderson, Ind.; Mrs. Fred
  (Carrie) Myers, Warren, Ark.; Mrs. Paul (Ivy) Specht of Kimmelton and Mrs.
  Henry (Mabel) Fluck, Somerset; Mrs. Jack (Lydia) Adams, San Luis Obispo,
  Calif.  Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset.  Friends will be
  received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 7 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the
  Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, where funeral service will be conducted
  Saturday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating.  Interment,
  Somerset County Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
  made to the Allegheny Lutheran Home, 807 Goucher St., Johnstown, Pa., 15905.
