Benford, 40, of Rockwood, died Aug. 30, 1986, in the Somerset Community Hospital as the result of an automobile accident. He was born April 7, 1946, in Rockwood, a son of Norman C. and Romaine (Decker) Benford. He is survived by his mother of Rockwood; his wife, Mary Ann (Logue) Benford of Rockwood; one son, Bradley John, and one daughter, Miss Becky Lynn, both at home; two brothers: Barry, Johnstown, and Lynn of Rockwood; and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Berkey of Rockwood. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Benford, April 20, 1978. His death terminates a marriage union of 18 years. He was a member of the Meyersdale Elks, B.P.O.E.; Meyersdale Moose Lodge; United Church of Christ of Rockwood and Rockwood American Legion. He was a graduate of the Rockwood Area High School, class of 1964; and California State University with a bachelor of science degree, 1968. Before his employment with the Pennsylvania Department of Highways, he taught school in Meyersdale for five years. Friends were received Monday 7-9 p.m. in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, and will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday where services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rex Wasser officiating. Interment, Rockwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood with Francis Brady supervising. Daily American, September 2, 1986 [B1117]
