  BENFORD
  
    Sarah Catherine "Kay," Benford, 89, formerly of Carriage Hill Apartments,
  died Dec. 5, 1997, at Arbutus Park Manor.  Born July 31, 1908, in Rockwood,
  daughter of the late Joseph C. and Laura G. (Critchfield) Benford. 
  Preceded in death by brother, Charles C.  Survived by nephew, Joseph Allen
  Benford, Simi Valley, Calif.; also by several cousins.  A retired school
  nurse from Richland School District, and also worked 20 years for the
  Cambria County American Red Cross before entering school nursing.  A member
  of P.R.P.S.E.A. and A.N.A.  A graduate of Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital
  School of Nursing, and attended IUP and UPI universities.  Member of St.
  John's United Church of Christ.  Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
  p.m. Monday at The Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., Johnstown, where
  services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Don Sease.  Interment
  will take place at noontime at IOOF Cemetery in Rockwood.
