Benner, 71, of Somerset, died May 24, 1987, Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born July 3, 1915, in Alton, Ill., son of David and Josephine (Holland) Benner. Also preceded in death by brother, David. Survived by his wife, the former Nancy M. Gubbine; these children: Mrs. Norman (Sharon) MacKenzie of Long Meadow, Mass.; Mrs. Jerry (Jacalyn) Mostoller, Somerset RD 5; Mrs. Phillip (Debra) Shumaker, Stoystown RD 3; and 11 grandchildren. Brother of: Mrs. William (Vivian) Wagner of Oregon; and Mrs. Sarah Tucker of Delta, Ohio. Member of Christian Assembly of Hollsopple. He was a charter member of the Laurel Ridge Sportsman's Association. He was a retired purchasing agent for DeVilbiss Company. He was a veteran of World War II. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home where services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Richard F. Lamber officiating.
