Born June 5, 1916, in Donora, Pa., son of George and Mary (Yanus) Benson. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John and Michael. Survived by these children: Laura Stutteville, Simsbury, Conn.; Brendan, Portland, Maine; George, New York N.Y.; three grandchildren; three sisters: Sue D'Vita, West Orange, N.J.; Helen O'Neill, Beach Haven, N.J.; and Margaret O'Neill, Livingston, N.J. Member of St. Philomena's Catholic Church, Livingston, Army veteran of World War II; recipient of Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star. Proofreader for Media Records, N.Y. Summa cum laude graduate of Columbia University with a degree in journalism. Friends were received at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Funeral liturgy at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul's Byzantine Catholic Church, Jerome, with Father William Wojciechowski officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Military rite by Jerome Post 802, American Legion.
