  George Benson, 70, Livingston, N.J., formerly of Jerome, died July 3, 1986,
  at East Orange Veterans Hospital, East Orange, N.J.  Born June 5, 1916, in
  Donora, Pa., son of George and Mary (Yanus) Benson.  Preceded in death by
  parents; brothers, John and Michael.  Survived by these children: Laura
  Stutteville, Simsbury, Conn.; Brendan, Portland, Maine; George, New York
  N.Y.; three grandchildren; three sisters: Sue D'Vita, West Orange, N.J.;
  Helen O'Neill, Beach Haven, N.J.; and Margaret O'Neill, Livingston, N.J. 
  Member of St. Philomena's Catholic Church, Livingston, Army veteran of
  World War II; recipient of Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star. 
  Proofreader for Media Records, N.Y.  Summa cum laude graduate of Columbia
  University with a degree in journalism.  Friends were received at Hoffman
  Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Funeral liturgy at 10:30 a.m.
  Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul's Byzantine Catholic Church, Jerome, with
  Father William Wojciechowski officiating.  Interment, Somerset County
  Memorial Park.  Military rite by Jerome Post 802, American Legion.
