Berkebile, 81, of Bedford St., Jenners, died Aug. 14, 1999 at Somerset Hospital. Born July 13, 1918 in Kantner, son of Clarance and Mable (Zimmerman) Berkebile. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 52 years, the former Virginia M. Greeley, Feb. 5, 1992; son Donald E., Aug. 19, 1989; brothers Fordyce, Lewis, and Floyd Berkebile; and grandson, Robert W. Garrety. Survived by these children: Constance, wife of Ronald Croyle, Stoystown RD; Wanita, wife of Robert Garrety, Jenners; Westley, married to Susan Truscott, Boswell; and Timmy, married to Sandra Dedik, Jenners; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Selba Jean Berkebile, Acosta. Brother of Hazel, wife of Floyd Baker, Stoystown, and Rachel, wife of Charles Thompson, Hooversville. Also survived by special friend Goldie Behon, Jenners and her family. Member of the Jennerstown United Methodist Church, Pittsburgh Local #66 International Union of Operating Engineers, Jenners Local #1040 UMWA and the New Baltimore Sportsmen Club. Charter member of the Jenner Rod & Gun Club, avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. Employed for 34 years in area mines and 20 years in construction. Friends were received Sunday evening and will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main St., Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Tuesday at the Jennerstown United Methodist Church. Rev. John R. Guerre officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial park.
