Berkey, 88, died Dec. 23, 2005, in Scottsdale, Ariz. She was born in Somerset, the daughter of L. Clayton Berkey and Edna Manges Berkey. Ada is survived by her brothers Donald (Doris), Naples, Fla.; and Earl (Jeanne), Somerset; and six nieces and nephews. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1938 from Mount Holyoke College and received advanced degrees from the University of Iowa and the University of Michigan. Ada was reference librarian in the Pennsylvania State Library before becoming Music Librarian at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She was a 14-year member of the Faculty Senate at Western, where she stayed until retirement. Ada was a life member of the American Library Association and active in the National Music Library Association. Ada's interests were music, bridge and traveling. She was a founding member of the Phoenix Chamber Music Society and she served as president for four years. She was also active in the Monday Morning Musicale in Phoenix and served as secretary/treasurer. Ada was active in various bridge groups and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 65 years. She was a world traveler for more than 50 years, during which she visited 190 countries. Service will be at the convenience of the family.
