Berkey (Tice), 84, of Ridgway, Pa., formerly of Somerset, died Oct. 24, 1980, at the Elk County Hospital in Ridgway. Born July 20, 1896, in Somerset, son of the late Jake and Annie (Spangler) Berkey, of Somerset and Shanksville. Survived by his widow, the former Austrid (Olson) Berkey, of Ridgway; son, Glenn R. Berkey of Florida; two grandchildren: Barbara and Richard, both of Washington, D.C.; sister, Mrs. Earl (Ethel) Yoder, Somerset RD 5; nieces: Elaine Simpson and Ethel (Dolly) Hill; nephews: Earl Buckett and Vernon Yoder; and cousins. A member of the F.O.E. Eagles 1801 Somerset. Retired movie projectionist from the drive-in theater in Ridgway, the Blatt Brothers theater and the Bisquire theaters in Somerset. He was one of the first persons in the area to learn to operate film projectors, and remained in that profession until his retirement. He was a former member of the National Guard and a veteran of the Mexican War. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Lehmon Harmmond Funeral Home in Ridgway, where services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
