Berkey Sr., 81, of Hooversville died March 8, 1993, at home. Born Aug. 30, 1911, in Johnstown. Son of Clyde A. and Carrie (Pritts) Berkey. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Lewis P. Survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Alice M. Rininger; daughter, Beverly, married to John Coy, Dayton, Ohio; son, Edward jr., nicknamed "Birdie," Hooversville; grandchildren: Jill and Todd Berkey and Tricia, Matt and Becky Coy; also three great-grandchildren. Navy veteran of World War II. Former national bank examiner and president and cashier of Community National Bank, Hooversville. Retired from Johnstown Bank and Trust Co. as a vice president. Very avid fan of the Johnstown Chiefs hockey team. Member of the Hooversville Christian Church and Johnstown Lions Club. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Gerald L. Myers officiating.
