  BERKEY
  
    Jerry Stern Berkey, 56, Somerset, died Feb. 14, 2001 at his residence. 
  Born May 20, 1944 in Lavansville, the son of Gilbert Phillip (Red) and
  Evelyn Grace (Stern) Berkey.  Preceded in death by parents; son Mark P.
  Berkey who died Sept. 29, 1989; brother Jackson A. Berkey and sister Nancy
  A. Berkey.  Survived by wife, the former Mona Marion Mardis, to whom he was
  married 35 years; children:  Heath P. Berkey, married to the former Megan
  Graham of Somerset, Mrs. David (Karen) Mullins of Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs.
  Shawn (Jennifer) Livengood of Somerset; and grandchildren, Seth and Brenna
  Berkey, Sara Livengood, and Bryce and Matthew Mullins.  Brother of Mrs.
  Richard E. (Lois) Swank, Mrs. Emma Jean Barron and Rev. Sherman H. Berkey,
  all of Somerset, and Robert W. Berkey of Arvada, Colo.  Attended Mt.
  Calvary Lutheran Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran.  Friends received from
  2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service
  will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Melvin A. Kirk
  officiating.  Interment, Lavansville Lutheran Cemetery.  contributions may
  be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Suite
  700, Pittsburgh, Pa.  15235
