  BERKEY
  
    Miss Mary E. Berkey, 84, Siemon Nursing Home, formerly of Hooversville RD
  1, died Feb. 14, 1984, Somerset Community Hospital.  Born June 15, 1899,
  Shade Township, daughter of Mahlon and Ida (Brubaker) Berkey.  Preceded in
  death by parents; and two brothers:  Lester and Emmet.  Survived by these
  nieces and nephews; Earl L. Berkey of Irwin RD 2; Melvin G. Berkey and
  Myrtle Stiffler, both of Windber.  Retired schoolteacher of Shade Township
  with 45 years of service.  She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran
  Church.  Family receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in
  George E. Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville.  Funeral services will be
  conducted 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Thomas Lutheran Church where remains
  will lie in state from 9 a.m. until time of service, the Rev. Gerald Myers
  officiating.  Interment, church cemetery.
