Berkey, Sr., 62, of Lincoln Highway, Stoystown, died Sept. 7, 1997 at Memorial Medical Center following a short battle with cancer. Born March 4, 1935 in Somerset County, son of Mabel and Curtis Berkey. Preceded in death by parents; mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Gindlesperger. Survived by his wife, the former Shirley A. Gindlesperger, whom he married Jan. 11, 1957; children: Kimberly D., at home; Roxann D., married to Timothy Mapes, Berlin; and Milford W. Jr., married to the former Glenda Yutzy and grandsons: Tyler James and Conner Wayne, all of Bealeton, Va. Also survived by these sisters and brothers: Joyce, Central City; Jerry and wife Brenda, Santee, S.C.; Mrs. Robert (Norman) Tremain, Carlisle, Mass.; Imojean, Ingleside, Ill.; Connie Edminson, Fairfax, Va.; Ronald and wife, Rhonda, Seanor; Roger and wife Patricia, and Mrs. Richard (Laura) Cameron, all of Windber; Rodney and wife, Nancy, Davidsville; and Mrs. John (Sandy) Law, Apollo. Also brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Nine Shaffer, Hollidaysburg; and several nieces and nephews. Retired from Prudential Insurance with 29 years of service. Employed as a part-time driver for Somerset County Transportation Service. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hooversville, and Life Underwriter's Assoc. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hooversville, Rev. Gerald L. Myers. Interment, St. Thomas Cemetery.
