Born Nov. 17, 1917, in Brothersvalley Township. Son of the late Sherman and Lucille Gnagey Berkley. Also preceded in death by stepmother Anna (Hay) Berkley. Survived by his wife, the former Helen Elizabeth Huston, to whom he was married for 36 years, and these children: Dr. Thomas S. Berkley of Melbourne, Fla.; Ms. Cora Sue Ebbitt, MBA, of Indian Lake; and Dr. Barbara Ann Majeroni of Buffalo, N.Y.; grandchildren Derek Ebbitt, Mrs. Heather Raymond and Timothy and Keith Majeroni. Brother of Mrs. Wilma Byron, State College; Mrs. William (Lucille) Nast, Harrisburg; and Lewis W. Berkley, Berlin RD 3. Former district manager of Pennsylvania Electric Co., retiring in 1979. Veteran of WWII U.S. Army Air Corps. 1935 graduate of Berlin High School and 1939 graduate of Juniata College. Member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church of Somerset, past president of Somerset Rotary Club, Somerset Lodge 358 F&AM, Jaffa Temple, BPO Elks Lodge 1951 of Meyersdale, American Legion Post 181, past president of Somerset County Development Council, past president of Somerset Chamber of Commerce, active with American Red Cross and Boy Scouts and received the Silver Beaver Award. Friends will be received 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Keith M. Fink and The Rev. Ronald Majeroni officiating. Interment, Richland Cemetery.
