Berkley, 58, of Meadow Rim Drive, Somerset, died June 7, 1985, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Oct. 12, 1926, in Somerset, son of the late John L. and Caroline (Hoffman) Berkley. Also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survived by his wife, the former Betty Jane Hanning; two children, Douglas W. of Somerset and Mrs. Michael (Jill) McNamara, Baltimore, Md.; two grandsons, Douglas Berkley Jr., and Bradley Berkley. Member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren and the American Legion. Graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy and served as an ensign in World War II. Former member of Somerset Borough Planning Commission and former owner of Somerset Paint and Supply Co. He was an account executive with Aero Drapery Co. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where service will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m., the Rev. Roger Forry officiating.
