  ROBERT PAUL BERNDT
  
  Robert Paul Berndt, 60, Windber, passed away Aug. 21, 2004 at Laurel Crest,
  Ebensburg.  Born March 9, 1944 in Johnstown, son of Paul Robert and Margaret
  (Hunsinger) Berndt.  Preceded in death by parents.  Survived by his wife of 31
  years, Rhoda (Gricks) Berndt; daughters Robin, wife of Matthew Pyle,
  Somerset, and Rebecca Berndt at home.  Brother of Anna Berndt, Johnstown, Jane
  Mintmier, Johnstown and Helen Berndt, Johnstown.  Also survived by several
  brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.  He was the last male
  child in the Berndt family.  Employed for 23 1/2 years at Bethlehem Steel, an
  honorary life member of the Solomon Run Vol. Fire Co., a 20-year member of
  the Lions Club, member of the Richland Lions Club from 1984-1998, member of
  the Windber Lions Club from 1998 until his death.  In 1992, he was named the
  Richland Lion of the Year.  Member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance
  Church, Johnstown.  Bob was a wonderful and loving husband, father,
  grandfather, uncle and friend.  Honoring Bob's last wish, he will be cremated.
  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Berndt family to assist
  with funeral costs.  Funeral service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday at
  Meek Funeral Home, Inc., Windber.
