He was born April 10, 1908, in West Virginia, son of the late David and Easter (Kennedy) Bevans. He was a retired coal miner of J & L Steel Corp.; member of UMW Local 762, and the Calvary United Methodist Church, Somerset; veteran of World War II-U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He is survived by one stepson, Charles Baker, East McKeesport; two stepdaughters, Dorothy Gwyn, Brownsville and Florence Ondrejko, Nemacolin; and one grandson, Les Gwyn, with whom he resided. Also survived by 11 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Thomas Bevans, Vestaburg; and William Bevans, Webster, Fla.; and two sisters, Marjorie Tedrow, Mather; and Loraine Fisher, Baltimore, Md. He was preceded in death by wife, Wilda M. Beanner, March 24, 1983; one stepson, Donald Baker; two sisters: Flora and Genevieve Bevans; and two brothers: Edward and Woodrow Wilson Bevans. Friends were received at the Greenlee Funeral Home, Fredericktown; where services were held with the Rev. Harry C. Sherry officiating. Interment, LaFayette Memorial Park.
