Mr. Bevans was the son of the late Mary Eliza Jordan and Ambrose Bevans, and was born on the Ridgeley Farm near Grantsville, April 8, 1883. He was educated in the Garrett County public schools and Catherman's Business School, Cumberland. He was employed in the Jennings Bros. company store at Jennings, Md., and the Dull Mercantile stores in Meyersdale and Jenners, Pa. In 1923 he went to Chicago and was employed by an insurance company. During his last nine years he was a local agent for the Jefferson National Life Insurance Company at Muncie, Ind., and was widely known. He is survived by his wife and one sister, Mrs. Klock; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ray Bevans, and a nephew, Charles Bevans, both of Chicago. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge, of Muncie, and the Masonic Lodge of Des Plaines, Ill. Funeral services were conducted Thursday night in a Muncie mortuary chapel. Dr. A. Wesley Pugh, his pastor, officiated. The body was then taken to a funeral home in Curwensville, Pa., where further services were held Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12, followed by interment in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Clearfield, Pa.
