She was a daughter of the late Walter and Martha Bevans, and was born on the old Ridgley farm several miles from Grantsville, about 84 years ago. She was the last surviving member of a family of five children and was a descendant of the Jacob Ridgley family who settled in Garrett County in 1815. She lived her entire life on the farm inherited from the Ridgley's until she became very ill last October and was moved to the Victoria Hotel by her niece, Mrs. C. J. Klock. Since then a cousin, Miss Nan Bevans, and Miss Mary O'Halleran, a nurse of Baltimore, have nursed and cared for her. Miss Bevans was well known in the county and was a faithful member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, of Grantsville. The following nieces and nephews survive: Mrs. C. J. Klock, Chambersburg, Pa.; Ray, Clarence and James Bevans, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Percy Love, Battle Creek, Mich.; Roger, Walter, Edward, Frank, James, Mabel and Ann Sullivan, all of Philadelphia. The funeral was held on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, at St. Stephen's Church, Rev. Father Culbert officiated. The pallbearers were V. L. Blocher, Earl Stanton, Louis Ross, Stanley Stanton, U. O. Blocher and Charles McFadden. Interment was made in the family cemetery on the Ridgley farm, with Funeral Director Reich of Meyersdale in charge. Meyersdale Republican, January 7, 1932
