Biondo, 87, Center Street, Boswell, passed away peacefully March 6, 2007, at home. Born Feb. 20, 1920, in Boswell, son of Richard Biondo and Victoria (Camaliti) Pronesti- Biondo. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Frank, Joseph, Dominic, Michael, Angelo and Raphael "Sunny" Pronesti; and sister, Mollie Arcail. Survived by wife of 65 years, the former Anne Gielniecky; daughter, Victoria A., married to Paul Butchko, Greensburg; grandchildren, Michelene, married to Brian Sheppard, Bridgeport, W.Va.; Maryann, married to Keith Bearley, Ashville, N.C.; and George, Seattle; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Parker Sheppard and Gunnar, Ana Noel and Griffin Bearley; and sister, Mary Ann, widow of Earl Stern, and Theresa, married to Charles Reckner, both of Boswell. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A 1938 graduate of the former Boswell High School, where he played football and basketball. Member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset; Boswell Lodge 1780, Sons Of Italy; Boswell Post 461, American Legion, with 56 years of continuous membership; Johnstown Council 467, Knights of Columbus (third degree); Johnstown Assembly 954, Knights of Columbus (fourth degree); and Goldenaires Senior Citizens, where he served as president for many years. He had been a longtime member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he served as organist, choir director and lector. He was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, having served with the First Calvary division in the South Pacific Theater. He was a longtime car salesman for about 55 years at the former Terrace Chevrolet, Jerome; the former S&A Chevrolet, Somerset; and Watkins Chevrolet, Boswell. Viewing will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held 2 p.m. Friday and Sons Of Italy will hold a memorial service 3:30 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Church. The Rev. Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli, celebrant. Committal Mount Carmel Cemetery, Jenner Crossroads, with military rites in charge of Somerset County Honor Guard. Knights of Columbus Assembly Color Guard will stand duty Friday evening at the funeral home.
