W. SCOTT BIRD

  W. Scott Bird died at his home in Harnedsville on Thursday, March 18, just 
four days before his 87th birthday anniversary.  He was born March 22, 1861, the 
son of Noah and Mary (Rush) Bird.
  Mr. Bird was an active church worker and, up until the time of his death, was 
Sunday school superintendent and sang in the choir.  A few years ago, the State 
Sunday School Association awarded him a pin in recognition of 50 consecutive 
years of service.
  His wife preceded him in death nearly 10 years ago.
  He is survived by two foster children, Mrs. Richard Chapple and Lemon Smith of 
Johnstown, and by one sister, Mrs. Jennie Dunmyer, Harnedsville.
  Funeral services were held Monday at 1 p.m. at the E.U.B. church, 
Harnedsville, with Rev. John Miller officiating.  Burial was made in the 
Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown.
