Mrs. Bitner, who was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Staub, pioneer residents of this section, was a native of Meyers Mills, now Meyersdale, and was born in the house on Main Street now occupied by the only remaining member of the family, Mrs. Eliza Diveley, the "Grand Old Lady" of Meyersdale, now in her 89th year. She was preceded to the grave by two brothers and one sister, John and Henry Staub and Mrs. Bernhard Smith, all one-time residents of Meyersdale. Mrs. Bitner is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. John Detweiler, Pennsville; Mrs. Joseph Anglo, Connellsville; Mrs. H. F. Hannel, Melbourne, Fla.; and Elmer, William and Frank Bitner, all of Pennsville. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Mount Olive Baptist Church, near Pennsville, interment being made in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Bitner was well known by the older residents of Meyersdale, and though having been for many years a resident of Fayette County, she frequently visited her sister, Mrs. Diveley. Those from here who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harry T. Staub and daughters, Anna and Verna; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Diveley, Miss Emma Smith, Miss Betty Diveley and H. C. Staub.
