Born Nov. 11, 1934, in Jennings, Md., the son of the late James and Della (Hoover) Bittinger. Preceded in death by one brother, Clark and two sisters, Elma Mason and Melva McKenzie. Surviving are his wife, Amanda Shirlene (Wilt) Bittinger; three sons, Larry DeWayne Wilt, Grantsville, Md., Joseph Lee Bittinger and fiance, Lynn Knull, Woodstock, Va., James Allen Bittinger and companion, Marie Bauer, Boynton; three daughters, Debra Lynn Failinger and Susan Kay Bittinger and companion, Randall Hollada, all of Meyersdale, Bernadine Frederick and husband, Michael A., Grantsville, Md.; one brother, Everett Bittinger, Accident, Md.; six sisters, Virginia Fazenbaker, Friendsville, Md., Viola Wilburn, Zelda McKenzie and Sylvia Garlitz, all of Grantsville, Md., Lillie Hoover, Boynton, and Helen Garlitz, Somerset; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Member of Maranatha Assembly of God and was a retired stone cutter for M & S Stone Quarry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Friends were received Sunday at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Md., where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. William Ferguson officiating.
