He was born March 14, 1939, in Jennings, Md., a son of the late Ervin Ray and Sadie (Bittinger) Bittinger. Preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Connie L. (Miller) Bittinger; one daughter, Connie, and a niece, Shelby, at home. A sister, Ruby Day of Berlin; and a brother, Ronald, of Rockwood. He was a member of the Edgewood Avenue Church of God and past president of the men's fellowship. Published poetry and was listed in "Who's Who in Poetry." Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral services Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Edgewood Avenue Church of God with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Interment, Mizpah Cemetery.
