She was 77 years of age. She had been failing in health for the past six months and had been critically ill for about four weeks. Her death was due to miocarditis. Mrs. Bittinger was born near Springs, Pa., March 12, 1863, a daughter of the late Christian and Mary Greymiller Bowman. She and Mr. Bittinger had been married for almost sixty years. For many years they lived on a farm near Accident, but for the past five years had resided with their son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Bittinger, near Oakland. They came to Grantsville last November to make their home with Mr. and Mrs. Younkin. Besides her husband and the above mentioned son and daughter, Mrs. Bittinger leaves one son, Clarence Bittinger, near McKeesport, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Accident Lutheran Church, of which she had been a member for some sixty years. Rev. Samuel D. Sigler, pastor of the Grantsville church, and Rev. Wagner officiated. Six grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Harry Younkin, Walter Younkin, Clarence Younkin, Harold Bittinger, Cecil Bittinger and Roy Bittinger. Interment was in the Accident Cemetery. All of her children with their families were here to attend the services. Meyersdale Republican, February 6, 1941
