Born Oct. 20, 1919 in Bittinger, Md., son of the late Daniel and Minnie (Beeman) Bittinger. Also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Lee Bittinger and son-in-law, Alvie R. Rugg. Survived by his wife, Josephine (Butler) Bittinger; two sons, Charles Raymond Bittinger, Salisbury; Freddy Alvin Bittinger, Stoystown; two daughters: Dorothy May Rugg and Susan Fay Weimer, both of Salisbury; a sister, Laura Merrbach, Meyersdale and 13 grandchildren. He was a retired coal miner. Friends received from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., Salisbury, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev.
