Born in Garrett County, Md., he was a son of the late Jacob Bittinger and Elizabeth (Hoover) Bittinger. A retired Frostburg State College employee, he was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Lonaconing, Md. Surviving are his widow, Rose (Bittinger) Bittinger; four daughters: Mrs. Mildred Cutter, LaVale, Md.; the Rev. Hilda Kavey, Keyser, W. Va.; Mrs. Shirley Loar, Shaft, Md.; Mrs. Wilda Meyers, Carlos, Md.; two sons, Bernard Bittinger, National; Delmas Bittinger, Woodland, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Weimer, Meyersdale; Mrs. Lola Brown, Grantsville, Md.; brother Raymond Bittinger, Lonaconing, 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Eichhorn Funeral Home. Services were conducted in Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Curtis Grant officiating. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
