Va. Mr. Bittinger was one of the original employes of the Commission when the dam started operation in 1952. He succeeded the late Francis Glass as damtender. Mr. Bittinger was born at Bittinger, Md., a son of Archie and Arminta (Fazenbaker) Bittinger. Besides his parents, surviving are his widow, Lavada (Broadwater) Bittinger, three sons, Dayton Bittinger, Rawlings, Md.; Dallas Bittinger, Swanton, Md.; and Dwight Bittinger, Columbia, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Napier, Hyattsville, Md, and Mrs. Audrey Riser, Savage River; two brothers, Orville and Lester Bittinger, both of Grantsville, Md., two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Towers, Deer Park, and Mrs. Dorothy Wilburn, Grantsville, Md., and 13 grandchildren. Friends were received at the Boal Funeral Home Westerport, Md. Services were conducted in the funeral home by Rev. William Shahan and Hilda Cavey. Interment was in the Reformed Cemetery, New Germany. Pallbearers were George Ward, Russell Moon, George, Reeves, Tim McMillan, Robert McMillan and Fred Glitten. Meyersdale Republican, January 6, 1977 {B1517]
