Bittinger, 73, Frostburg, Md., died June 25, 1987, in Frostburg Community Hospital, Frostburg, Md. Born in Jennings, April 20, 1914, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Broadwater) Bittinger. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie (Guthrie) Bittinger. He was a member of First Congregational Church. Surviving are his wife, Louise (McKenzie) Bittinger, one son, Herman L. Bittinger, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Robin "Cheryl" Bowman, Swanton, Md.; Tina Marie McKenzie, Frostburg, Md.; and Thelma Jean Caruthers, Springs; two stepsons, Joseph H. Minnick, Baltimore, Md.; and Roger A. Minnick Sr., Frostburg, Md.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Patricia Winfield, Frostburg, Md.; two brothers, Charles Bittinger, Lisbon, Ohio; and George Bittinger, also of Ohio; three sisters, Ethel Morrison, Uniontown; Mrs. Gladys Morris, Tomahawk Lake, Ohio; and Mrs. Isabelle Hebner, Cumberland, Md.; seven grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren. Friends were received in the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md., where a service was conducted June 29 by the Rev. James F. Mou. Interment was in Trinity Cemetery, New Germany, Md.
