Bittinger, 58, of Route 2, Grantsville, Md., died April 29, 1988 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born in Jennings, Md., March 3, 1930, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Celia (Wilt) Bittinger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha (Bittinger) Bittinger, on May 10, 1981. He was a construction worker with Phoenix Construction Company, a member of the Laborer's International Union Local 616 and of Jennings United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Michael Bittinger, of Grantsville, Md.; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Wilburn and Crystal Bittinger, both of Grantsville, Md.; two brothers, Lloyd Bittinger, Jr., and Wilbert Bittinger, both of Grantsville, Md.; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Kaiser, Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Irene Shaffer, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Pauline Handwerk and Mrs. Beulah Ross, both of Grantsville, Md.; and three grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home where services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Joseph Upole. Interment, Bittinger Cemetery. The Republic, May 5, 1988 [B1531]
