  BITTINGER
  
    Ruth Bittinger, 85, of 789 Maple Grove Rd., Grantsville, Md., died
  Aug. 5, 1999 at Meyersdale Medical Center.  Born July 29, 1914 in
  Swanton, Md., she was a daughter of the late James and Nancy
  (Burkholder) Bittinger and was a widow of Russell S. Bittinger, who
  died Nov. 29, 1990.  Also preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria
  McKenzie.  Member of Jennings Church of God.  Survived by two sons,
  Willard and David Bittinger, both of Grantsville; 3 daughters:
  Dorothy Hare, Salisbury; Doris Engle, Meyersdale; and Arlene Friend,
  Swallow Falls, Md.; also 14 grandchildren and 16
  great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
  Saturday at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Md. 
  Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Jennings Church of
  God, with Rev. George Plants officiating.  Interment, Grantsville
  Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the
  services.  Expressions of sympathy may be 
  directed to Jennings Church of God.
