  SIMON H. BITTINGER
  
    Simon H. Bittinger, 73, of RD 2, Route 219 North, Grantsville, Md.,
  died Sunday, June 16, 1985 at Meyersdale Community Hospital.
    Born in Jennings, Md., Oct. 4, 1911, he was a son of the late
  Harvey O. Bittinger and Anna Mae (Durst) Bittinger.
    He was a retired laborer, was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God
  Church.  He served as a mineman third class in the Navy in World War
  II and was a member of Grantsville American Legion Post 214 and the
  Salisbury, Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
    Surviving are his widow, the former Thelma M. Broadwater; two sons,
  Sgt. Larry Bittinger, Lawton, Okla.; Keith Bittinger, Grantsville; six
  daughters, Mrs. Wanda McKenzie and Mrs. Delores Hostetler, both of
  Meyersdale; Mrs. Sharon Winebrenner and Mrs. Debra Yommer, both of
  Frederick, Md.; Mrs. Kathryn Broderick, Frostburg, Md.; Mrs. Brenda
  Durst, Grantsville, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. Fern Durst and Mrs. Mae
  Hetrick, both of Grantsville; Mrs. Lola Durst, Accident, Md.; and 14
  grandchildren.
    Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville,
  where services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Howard
  W. Broadwater.  Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.  Military honors
  were accorded by the Grantsville Legion and Salisbury VFW posts.
