Bittner, 65, Salisbury, vice president of the board of directors of Meyersdale Community Hospital and former owner and operator of Bittner Service Center, Salisbury, died Tuesday, April 22, 1975, in Meyersdale Community Hospital. He was also a director of Salisbury Industrial Association and a life member of Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department. For more than 40 years Mr. Bittner was an amateur radio operator and operated Station W2GGL and had maintained regular schedules with the Capuchin Mission in New Guinea. To other operators he was known as "Pic" and was a member of the Mountain Amateur Radio Club of Cumberland. He had attended Bucknell University at Lewisburg. A native of Meyersdale, Mr. Bittner was born March 10, 1910 a son of the late Frank A. and Mary (Jenkin) Bittner. His first wife, Isabelle (Wagner) Bittner, preceded him in death. Surviving are his second wife, Evelyn (Goodman) Solosko Bittner, Salisbury; two stepchildren: Robert Solosko, Buffalo, N.Y.; and Mrs. Joan Soloman, Cedarhurst, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Helen Korns, Somerset; and six grandchildren. Funeral service was conducted Friday afternoon in Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, with Rev. George E. Bowersox officiating. Interment in Salisbury Cemetery. Meyersdale Republic, May 1, 1975 [B1554]
