"Speedy" Bittner, 57, of Warren, Ohio, died June 23, 2001 at his residence after being stricken suddenly of a pulmonary-cardiac thrombosis. He was born March 3, 1944 in Somerset, Pa., the son of Roy and Gladys Shaulis Bittner and moved to the Niles, Ohio area in 1964. He is survived by his wife the former, Judith I. Summers, whom he married Feb. 14, 1964, his mother of Somerset, a daughter, Mrs. Pam Kreller, of Warren, Ohio, and a granddaughter. A 1962 graduate of Somerset Area High School, he had been employed by the former Youngstown Welding and Engineering for 30 years, and for the past 6 years at Gab Art, Youngstown, as an inspector. An avid motorcycle rider, he had attended living Lord Lutheran Church. He enjoyed daily reading of his trade and professional journals. He enjoyed metal shop work, and was handy at creating metal parts for various equipment and machinery. Services were held Tuesday at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, Niles, Ohio.
