Bittner, 76, of Rockwood RD 3, died May 4, 1977, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Sept. 12, 1900, in Dunbar, he was a son of David W. and Annabelle (Rowan) Bittner. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Nedrow) Bittner of Rockwood RD 3; three sons, Glenn of Somerset RD 4; Dale of Seeding Hills, Mass.; and Blaine of Layfette, La.; four daughters, Mrs. Faye Iser of Leadville, Col.; Mrs. Lois Folk of Rockwood RD 3; Mrs. Inez Larkin of Tucson, Ariz.; and Mrs. Carol Weimer of Rockwood RD 1; two brothers, Wilbur and clyde, both of West Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Puffer, Mrs. Cleo Kelley all of West Newton; 29 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, a step-mother, a sister, Grace, a half-brother, Charles, and three grandsons. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Local 1742 of Jennerstown and the Somerset Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Funeral services were held Sunday at the William J. Wood Funeral Home with Rev. James E. Vandervort officiating. Interment, Somerset Memorial Park. The Republic, May 12, 1977 [B1570]
