Bittner, 60, of Corriganville, Md., died Thursday, Dec. 21, 1972, in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Reels Corner, he was a son of the late Howard H. and Margaret (Burkett) Bittner. He was a B&O Railroad yard foreman for 31 years and also a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Corriganville Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Kimmel; three daughters, Mrs. Shelby Jean Hobbs, Eldersburg; Mrs. Catherine Fae Garzino and Mrs. Christine Rae Alcorn, both of San Francisco, Calif.; a son, Mark Edward Bittner, Corriganville, five grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Bittner, Berlin; James Bittner, Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Bender, Berlin; and Mrs. Sadie Dailey, Pittsburgh. Funeral service was conducted Sunday afternoon in Zeigler Funral Home, Hyndman, with Rev. Hubert L. Patrick officiating. Interment in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
