Bittner, 74, of Martinsburg, W.Va., formerly of Somerset, died March 21, 1996, at City Hospital in Martinsburg. Born Sept. 24, 1921, in Black township, son of the late Elmer Charles Bittner, and Jennet (Barbar) Bittner of Somerset RD 7. Preceded in death by father, and brothers: Sam, and Dewey. Survived by his mother, and wife of 34 years, the former Carol Barton, and the following children: Danny J. Bittner of Woodbridge, Va., Donna Layton of Bedford, Lynn Penrod of Everett; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. Brother of Mrs. Harold (Melba) Lape of Somerset RD 1, Allan Bittner of Rockwood RD 1, Sara Watts, and John Bittner both of Somerset RD 5, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Friedline of Sipesville, Mrs. J.R. (Ida) Lehman, and Mrs. Richard (Janet) King both of Somerset RD 7. A mortgage loan officer for Security Mortgage Company of Inwood, W.Va., a WWII veteran of the U.S.Army. Member of Manassas United Methodist Church. Member of Loyal Order of Moose, VFW, and American Legion all of Martinsburg. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. (today) Saturday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Wilbur D.
