Bittner, retired farmer of Greenville Township, died at the home of his son, Emanuel G. Bittner, Frostburg, Md., Route 2 at about 4:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22nd, of coronary thrombosis. He retired about 12 or 14 years ago, and had been living with his son for the last two years or more. His wife, the former Annie Paul, died in 1934. He was born in Greenville Township on March 5, 1863, and was aged 83 years, 1 month and 17 days at his death. He was a son of Samuel and Lucinda (Lee) Bittner. He is survived by two sons, Robert of Cumberland, Md., and Emanuel at whose home he died and one brother, Urias Bittner, of Sand Patch. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his son on Wednesday, April 24th, at 2:00 p.m. with his pastor, Elder Logan, Seventh Day Adventist minister of Cumberland, officiating. Interment in the Greenville Lutheran Cemetery in charge of Stanley M. Thomas, Salisbury mortician. Meyersdale Republican, April 25, 1946
