Born Feb. 15, 1922, in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County. Son of Helen L. (Nedrow) Bittner, Tucson, Ariz., and the late Daniel B. Bittner. Also preceded in death by first wife, Mattie Shipley; son, Raymond D. Bittner, and sister, Lois Folk. Survived by wife, the former Emily Margaret Hergenroder to whom he was married for 50 years, and these children: Mrs. Gene (Joan) Countryman, Pensacola, Fla.; Mrs. Keith (Linda) Bailey, Whitehall; Mrs. Dennis V. (Yvonne) Rhoads, Friedens RD 2; Mrs. C. J. (Janine) George, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Randy (Wendy) Miles, Wilmington, N.C.; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Brother of Mrs. William (Fay) Iser, Grand Junction, Colo.; Mrs. Raymond (Inez) Larkin, Tucson, Ariz.; Dale Bittner, Fort Meade, Fla., Blaine Bittner, Lafayette, La.; Mrs. Kenneth (Carol) Weimer Jr., Rockwood. Was a 1940 graduate of Connellsville High School. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Member of the Casselman United Methodist Church and VFW Post 554, Somerset. Also member and past commander of Rockwood American Legion, Rockwood. Retired superintendent of Laurel Hill State Park. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Lynn M. Sanner, officiating.
