BITTNER May 20, 1924-Oct. 30, 2004 Harold W. Bittner, 80, Berlin, died Saturday, October 30, 2004, in Boynton, the son of Francis and Elizabeth (Shirey) Bittner. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Smith; and half brother, Harry Tressler. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Mary Platt; daughter, Bonnie, married to John Gary, Apopka, Fla.; son, Timothy, married to the former Patricia Shuck, Meyersdale; grandson, William Gary and two brothers: Francis Jr. and wife Zelma, and Fred and wife Midge, both of Berlin. He was the former owner of H. W. Bittner Building & Remodeling, Berlin. He attended the Berlin Alliance Church, was an Army veteran of World War II and former president of Berlin Sportsman Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed building lawn furniture and was proud of his lawn. Family received friends Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Sherman Berkey and Rev. Ralph Landis officiating.
