Bittner, 84, died Oct. 14, 1981 at Akron City Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Somerset County, a son of Emma (Poorbaugh) and Benjamin F. Bittner, of Glencoe. He was formerly of Akron and lived the past 44 years in Greensburg. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers: also, wife, Myrtle, and son, Robert G. Bittner. He is survived by his wife, Edna; sons: Howard B., of Long Beach Calif.; Dale R., of Greensburg; daughter, Mrs. Dorcas (Jeanne) Whistler of Sheriden, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother of: (Image faded) Bittner, Glencoe; sisters: Hazel Bittner, Glencoe; Hilda Guiliano, Colon, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. He was employed with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 29 years as a drum changer, retiring in 1962 and also worked as a farmer. He attended the Greensburg United Methodist Church and was an army veteran of World War I. Services were held at the Hopkins Uniontown Funeral Home with the Rev. John Capper officiating.
