Bittner, 71, of Clover Hill Road, Somerset, died Sept. 2, 1994, at Somerset Hospital. Born June 21, 1923, in Fayette City, Pa., son of the late J. H. and Pauline (Schisler) Bittner. Also preceded in death by stepmother, Gladys (Reitz) Bittner. Survived by wife, the former Jean Hormell; and two sons - Robert J. and Dr. James H., married to the former Nancy Larkin, both of Somerset; also two brothers, Dean, Penn Hills, and Howard, Latrobe. Graduate of Shade Township High School and University of Pittsburgh Dental School. Member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Past president of Somerset Lions Club. Member of Somerset Lodge 358, F&AM; 32nd Degree Mason; Altoona Shrine. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a lieutenant. Also member of American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Somerset Hospital medical and dental staffs. Somerset dentist for 40 years, retiring in 1985. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Rev. Byron K. Myers. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
