  Lloyd J. "Abe" Bittner, 84, of Boswell RD 2, died evening of May 18,
  1982, at Windber Hospital.  Born Aug. 17, 1897, in Somerset, son of
  Andrew and Nora (Boyts) Bittner.  Preceded in death by parents; first
  wife, the former Susan Gilmour, who died in 1926; infant son; and son,
  Robert D., who died in 1976; infant brother; brothers, Robert and
  Elmer and sister, Elsie Halverson.  Survived by widow, the former
  Beatrice Dollard and these children:  Richard W., married to the
  former Margaret Eichleberger, Sipesville; Dorothy Robb, wife of Robin
  Kendall, Mobile, Ala.; JoAnn, wife of Col. James L. Trayers,
  Springfield, Va.; Lloyd James, married to the former Lois Gumbita,
  Boswell RD 2; Nancy J., wife of William Baer, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and
  Michael L., married to the former Barbara Pugh, Boswell RD 2; 30
  grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by
  daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Bittner of Gray.  Brother of Melda
  Truax, New Kensington; Meriam Stuck, Boswell; and Margaret Gluck,
  Somerset.  Director of People's Bank and Trust Co., Jennerstown, for
  over 30 years.  Owned and operated former Bittner's Tire Service,
  Jennerstown, until retirement in July 1958.  Celebrated 51st wedding
  anniversary July 3, 1981.  Friends were received Wednesday evening
  and will be received from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at the
  Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell, where service will be
  held at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Chauncey J. Ickes officiating. 
  Interment, I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Stoystown.
