BITTNER June 20, 1917-April 30, 2004 Robert D. Bittner, age 86, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at his home. He was born June 20, 1917, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Simon M. and Nora Engle Bittner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Bittner and a sister, Margaret Braun. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Paula Hinebaugh Bittner; a son, Greg R. and his wife Cathy of N. Huntingdon; three daughters: Pamela Donnelly and her husband Ray of Glen Burnie, Md., Jacque Ramsey and her husband Bill of Placerville, Calif., Kim Deri and her husband Stephen of N. Huntingdon; 14 grandchildren: Michael, Brian, Raymond, Steve, Sharlene, Tim, Robin, Jeff, Travis, Hunter, Trae, Connor, Logan and Peyton; and several great-grandchildren. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Bittner was employed by Gulf Oil Inc. as a Sales Rep with 35 years of service. In 1959 he went into business for himself as the owner/operator of Bittner Tire and Supply Inc. He was also the former owner of Posey Corner Campground in Somerset County. Bob was a member of the Norwin Alliance Church, a 32nd degree Mason, Bluefield Virginia Blue Lodge, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, American Legion of White Oak, Rilton VFW, Latrobe Elks and a 1935 graduate of Meyersdale High School, and a veteran of the US Army Air Corp having served during WWII. Friends were received Saturday and Sunday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home Inc., Clay Pike, Circleville, N. Huntingdon. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Norwin Alliance Church.
