Bittner, 81, Berlin, died April 4, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 14, 1926, in Glencoe, son of Harvey Milton and Mary Sarah (Kroushoure) Bittner. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Helen; brothers, Carl and Fay Bittner. Survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Dorothy Hittie, whom he married on Aug. 27, 1949; daughter, Patty Walker, married to John, Berlin; two grandchildren, who he loved dearly, Bryan and Sarah Walker. Brother of Henrietta Robinette, Corriganville, Md.; and Leroy C. Bittner, Meyersdale. Brother-in-law of William and Flo Hittie, Poland, Ohio; and Betty Bittner, Berlin. Also survived by numerous nieces And nephews. A 1945 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Last Man's Club. Retired conservation officer for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He also worked for PBS Coal Co. and Fogle Engineering. Member of Glencoe United Church of Christ and Elks Lodge 1951, Meyersdale. Life member of VFW Post 7295, Berlin, American Legion Post 445, Berlin, and the Berlin Fire Dept. He enjoyed the outdoors and his family. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Charles Dunn officiating. Interment Berlin IOOF Cemetery. Graveside military rites by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
