Bittner, 90, of 223 Hermitage Place, Jackson, Tenn., formerly of Schellsburg, died July 4, 1980, in the VA Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was born Dec. 29, 1890, in Glencoe, son of the late Hyram and Sarah (Coughenour) Bittner. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mable Bittner; five brothers; and five sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Bernice, wife of William L. Whisel, Jackson, Tenn.; and four grandchildren; brother to Mrs. Edna Cook, Johnstown. Retired Pennsylvania Turnpike employee, Army veteran of World War I, member of Mt. Lebanon United Church of Christ. Friends were received at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg. Services were held with the Rev. Harold Nussbaum officiating. Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The Republic, July 10, 1980 [B1688]
