Bittner, 63, of Somerset RD 6 passed away at his residence June 13. He was born March 2, 1910 in Somerset Township. He was a son of the late Clark and Elizabeth (Young) Bittner. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his widow the former Beatrice Kemp, three brothers: Clyde of Johnstown, Edward of Tracy, Calif. and Merle of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a member of Company C of Somerset and was a veteran of WW II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Somerset Volunteer Fire Dept. and Lodge 358 F & AM of Somerset, Pittsburgh Consistory, Jaffa Shrine, Altoona. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Fraternal Order of Eagles all of Somerset. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Somerset. He was an employee of Exxon Corp. for 32 years at the Somerset Plaza previous to his retirement in 1972. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home where services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating. Interment will be at Husband Cemetery. Daily American, 14 June 1973 [B1689]
