Born March 4, 1907, in Somerset, son of late Silas and Sadie (Critchfield) Bittner. Preceded in death by three brothers and sisters. Survived by wife, former Aleta Trimble; and these children: Simon Jr., San Francisco, Calif.; Paul E. and Marcia Tompson, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Brother of: Eddie, Cleveland, Ohio; Harold, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; Blanche Baker and Margaret Bittner, both of Somerset; Florence Novison, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; Stella Dolce and Alice Stemple, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Rebecca Uhas, Sarasota, Fla.; Anna Critchfield, Somerset; and Lorene Heinbaugh, West Newton, Pa. Retired captain for American Airlines. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Richard E.
