Pleasant on Friday evening, December 30th, at 9 o'clock, from a complication of diseases which confined her to her bed for over five years. At the time of her death she was 80 years, 1 month and 16 days old. Mrs. Bittner was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Bauman and was born in the Brush Creek section, November 14th, 1852. She was one of thirteen children. In 1875 she was united in marriage with Benjamin Bittner, who passed away in June, 1920. They lived in the Brush Creek section for a number of years, but about forty years ago they located at Mt. Pleasant where Mr. Bittner was engaged in the horse dealing business. During the forty years they lived in Mt. Pleasant she was an active member of the First Reformed Church. Her entire life was devoted in loving service to her family, neighbors, friends and her church. She was a splendid mother and a true Christian woman who will be mourned by legions. Mrs. Bittner is survived by five children; three sons, Ira, of Cumberland, Md., Norman, who lived at home, Curtis, of Harrisburg, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs William Morgan of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Lizzie Sheppard of Pitcairn; one brother, Ephriam Bauman of Brothersvalley Township, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Werner of the Brush Creek section; thirty-two grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. During her late years she was known as the oldest of the Baumans spelling the name with "au". Her brother, Ephriam now bears that distinction. Mrs. Bittner was a sister of the late Mrs. Sarah Faust of Meyersdale and the late Daniel Bauman of Liscomb, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted at her late home in Mt. Pleasant on Monday, January 2nd, at 2 o'clock, her pastor, Rev. Stonecipher, pastor of the First Reformed Church, of Mt. Pleasant, having charge of the services. Interment was made in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Undertaker Zimmerman in charge of funeral arrangements. Meyersdale Republican, January 5, 1933
