LOHR BITTNER July 5, 1918-October 20, 2004 Violet L. Lohr Bittner, age 86, of Mars, died Wednesday evening, October 20, 2004, at LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars. Born in Garrett, Somerset County, on July 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Lillie Mae Boden Lohr. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn E. Lohr, to whom she was married for 53 years before he died on March 12, 1990; and by three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her husband, Joseph V. Bittner, whom she married on August 22, 1997, three sons: Edward Lohr of Wichita, KS; John Lohr of Mars; and William Lohr of Cowansville; a brother, Jim Lohr of Ambridge; a sister, Florence Lohr Neihenke of Baden; also five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a 1936 graduate of Meyersdale High School, and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. John's Lutheran Home in Mars, Regency Hall in Wexford and for the Mars School District. She was a member of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown, and was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mars. She was a member of the Mars American Legion Auxiliary, and served in various church circles. Friends were received Saturday, at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. in Mars. Funeral services followed at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Greg Wiest, her pastor, officiating. Burial was in Middlesex Methodist Cemetery, Middlesex Twp.
